Last week, on Thursday evening, Envision Frederick County held it’s second annual Envision fundraising dinner event at ThorpeWood — Envision Winter 2016 — with special guest speakers Mike Tidwell, founder and director of the Chesapeake Climate Action Network, and Congressman-elect Jamie Raskin.
First of all, thank you very much to everyone who attended, for being part of our ENVISION Winter 2016 event and supporting Envision Frederick County! The event sold out as we reached the maximum capacity of our lovely venue, and had about 125 people in attendance.
Thank you also to everyone who helped put the event together, who volunteered to help at the event, and those who could not attend but made a contribution just the same. It takes all of you to create an engaging and motivating evening to remember!
In addition, I would like to specifically thank Julie and Sam Castleman of ThorpeWood for providing such a beautiful and perfect venue; Jake Sgueo and all the folks at Renaissance Chef Catering for doing such a great job, again; Tim Stephens for being the photographer for the event (including all the photos posted here); Grace Jones, Sam Jones and Rebecca Parker for bartending for the reception in the Tree Room; Sean Smith, owner of Hi Way Liquors; and everyone else who helped in any way.
Separately, I would like to thank the members of the Board of Directors of Envision Frederick County who worked hard to make this happen well, including Elizabeth Bauer, Ellen Kreis, Mark Long and Karin Tome, as well as Patrice Gallagher, who deserves a special note of thank you for designing the beautiful invitation, the program and more for the event.
Finally, we have to thank the two headline speakers I mentioned above, Mike Tidwell, the founder and director of the Chesapeake Climate Action Network, and Maryland State Senator and now Congressman-elect Jamie Raskin. Mike and Jamie were thoroughly engaging, and left everyone more motivated to be or stay involved in our community and the issues that matter, and to find new ways to make a real difference.
After this second such event, we can now accurately call it an “annual event!” We look forward to the next one.
The program for the event is below. But it leaves out two things…
The first was a surprise acknowledgement, collective expression of gratitude, and a gift, for Dr. Robert C. Ladner and Dr. Jane E. Ladner, who made an extremely generous contribution to Envision Frederick County, starting last January, and spread out over a three year period.
The second was the announcement that Ann Marie Nau was recently added as a new member of our Board of Directors. Ann and her family live in Myersville, where she was instrumental in the fight against Dominion’s controversial gas compressor station, and has invested a great deal of time and energy — and talent — in the still ongoing fight against fracking in Maryland. Look for more information about Ann Marie on our site soon.
Below the program are a few dozen photos from the event. Below those photos is the back side of the program, which includes a little information and a request for your support!
