About the Author

Susan serves as the Outreach Coordinator for the Center for Coastal and Watershed Studies. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Pennsylvania State University at University Park, where she was also a research assistant in the Biology Department. For more than 13 years, she worked at a private environmental laboratory and consulting firm specializing in environmental sampling, analysis and site assessment/remediation. In 1999 she earned her master’s degree in environmental biology from Hood College where she focused her research and interest in aquatic ecology. Before working at the Center, she was an outdoor environmental educator conducting field studies on watershed health with secondary level students for a local not-for profit organization.
