County Executive Gardner to host meetings to gather public input (Thursday)

EDITOR’S NOTE: This Thursday evening, at Winchester Hall, County Executive Jan Gardner will be taking public comment and responding to questions at two public meetings (a “Talk of the Town” and a “Legislative Town Hall.”

winchesterhallThese meetings enable anyone to express concerns, offer suggestions, and ask questions…about anything, such as planning issues, the county budget, solid waste, and so on, and then (after 7:00 p.m.), to make recommendations about the county’s legislative package (which then goes to the Frederick County delegation to Annapolis).

For example, this would be a good time for county residents to ask that the legislative package include a resolution or letter supporting a statewide ban on fracking, which we know will be a significant issue in the upcoming (January) legislative session in Annapolis.

Legislative Town Hall to Follow ‘Talk of Town’

FREDERICK, MD – Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner invites residents to meet with her during two public outreach sessions on Thursday, Oct. 6, at Winchester Hall.

From 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., she will hold the next in a series of informal community meetings called the “Talk of the Town.” This open-door session allows residents to stop by and ask questions, discuss their ideas for the future, and express any concerns.

At 7:00 p.m., Executive Gardner will begin a Town Hall to gather input on state legislative considerations so that the county can submit a single legislative package to the Frederick County delegation to Annapolis.

“Open government requires open doors and open dialogue,” Executive Gardner said. “I encourage citizens to share their ideas and provide feedback.”

Both meetings will be held in the first floor hearing room of Winchester Hall, 12 E. Church St., Frederick. The Talk of the Town session will not be televised. The Legislative Town Hall session will be televised live on FCG TV, cable channel 19, and webcast at
