Wednesday Forum: What are the alternatives to an incinerator?

If Frederick County doesn’t build an incinerator, what are the alternatives? How can we reduce, re-use and recycle as much as possible in the county?

Those are among the important questions that will be tackled at a briefing at the Urbana Regional Library on Wednesday evening.

The No Incinerator Alliance recently surveyed all of the candidates running for County Council or Executive to learn whether they oppose or support the incinerator.

As a follow-up to the survey, the No Incinerator Alliance is hosting the briefing about alternatives to incineration for candidates and the public.

The doors will open at 5:30pm for those who would like to take the opportunity to review a range of materials and/or to discuss the issues. At 6:00pm there will be informative presentations from a panel, followed by an open question and answer period.

Please attend to learn about and discuss the issues with candidates.

The No Incinerator Alliance is a grassroots coalition working to stop new trash incinerators from being built in or near Frederick County, Maryland. We are individuals and environmental groups working with residents, businesses and local governments to move toward Zero Waste concepts and practices.

Such practices save natural resources, conserve landfill space and eliminate costly and polluting incinerators by reducing waste generation and reusing, recycling and composting discarded materials
