About the Author

Mark was born and raised in Frederick County and currently lives in Thurmont, MD with his wife of 40 years. Mark's family has lived in Frederick County for many generations. His father was raised as a farmer and later became a building contractor and started Long Construction, Inc. Mark was involved in the building business for over 20 years, and his brother Ronald continues to operate the business. He currently operates his own small business, Peace of Mind Home Inspections. In 2014, Mark ran for the Frederick County Council, winning in the primary, but falling short in the general election. Mark serves on the Frederick County Affordable Housing Council, as well as on the Board of Directors of the following 4 non-profits: Interfaith Housing Alliance, Kitsune, Envision Frederick County, the Thurmont Lions Club. He is also participating in the Leadership Frederick County program operated by the Chamber of Commerce.
